Notes on tying:

1. Tie in black hackle fibers for tail.
2. Dub body with black fur.
3. Tie in mallard wing segments upright and divided.
4. Wrap hackle through wings.
5. Whip finish head.

 This is a popular gnat pattern.  It can be fished by letting it float in the surface film dead drift style.
