| Hook: | (T) 2457 or (M) 3906 |
|
| Size: | 16-18 | |
| Thread: | 8/0 Black | |
| Body: | Black Ultachenille | |
| Wing: | Mallard Wing Quill | |
| Thorax: | 2/3 Muskrat, 1/3 Charcoal Ligas Blend |
Notes on tying:
1. Holding ultrachenille between your thumb and index finger lightly
singe the end of tail to produce the desired taper with a match
or butane lighter.
2. Tie in ultachenille 1/3 back from the eye of the hook and wrap
it securely.
3. Tie in mallard wing quill pointing down. Trim off excess
quill.
4. Dub the thorax region with 2/3 muskrat and 1/3 charcoal Ligas
blend.
5. Whip finish.
6. Tease out hair for legs.
This is a pattern Mike Jacobs demonstrated in his fly tying class. It is also listed in Fly Fisherman March 1992. Fish it up stream and let it drift back.
